Description |
One is a series of folders containing personal papers belonging to Louis Armstrong that were saved and collected by Jack Bradley. This folder contains multiple copies of the different diet charts created by Louis in the 1950s and 1960s. The original "Lose Weight the Satchmo Way" was typed in green ink and is credited to "Lucille Armstrong and Louis Satchmo Armstrong." Louis writes an introductory paragraph before outlining nine days worth of meals. Bradley has one copy and it's autographed by Louis. The next "Lose Weight The 'Satchmo' Way" still credits Lucille but it features a different layout and more comments by Louis. Bradley has one complete copy though it looks like a draft because the title is missing a space. Another "Lose Weight the Satchmo Way" features a better layout but is incomplete. Then there is a "Health Chart" which is a single sheet featuring Louis's thought on health, Swiss Kriss and Bisma Rex. Then there's the final "Lose Weight, the Satchmo Way!" which states, "As copied from the Harpers Bazaar - by Louis Armstrong." This is a single sheet with just the nine days of dinner plans, a graphic of a trumpet and Louis's signature. This became the standard diet chart and Bradley has many copies of it in various sizes and types of paper. |
