| Description | Loose-leaf binder, photos, correspondence, clippings detailing the campaign towards the issue of a Louis Armstrong postage stamp, and the first day of issue event in New Orleans in 1995. Contents include: News clippings, snapshots, stamps, letters, memorabilia; photos of Donald Marquis, Dick Allen, Dave Bartholomew and others; congratulatory letters sent to Marquis from Floyd Levin and others; color transparency of the David Redfern photo on which the stamp is based; color transparency of the USPS stamp, and two color transparencies of the first day of issue event. Scrapbook also includes four clippings on the controversial 2004 Bruce Boyd Raeburn talk at the Satchmo Summerfest, "Louis and Women," detailing how the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation withheld money from the festival because they found the presentation to “tarnish the image” of Louis. |
