This folder contains letters and other mail sent to Jack Bradley during the 1990's from Phoebe Jacobs, Current (as of 2010) Executive Vice-President of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation. Contents include: Letter dated February 2, 1992 providing the address of Representative John Conyers, Jr., the lawmaker preparing legislation for the Louis Armstrong postal stamp, and requesting that Jack distribute it and solicit others to send encouraging letters; Letter dated November 14, 1994 entreating Jack to visit the Louis Armstrong Archives at Queens College and the Armstrong exhibit at the Queens Museum; Letter dated November 23, 1994 reporting the Postal Service's confirmation of a 1995 commemorative stamp featuring Louis Armstrong; Undated letter mentioning the goings-on at the Louis Armstrong Archives and the attendant media interest; Letter dated August 29, 1998 requesting Jack provide photographs for a Duke Ellington book project involving his granddaughter, Mercedes Ellington; Photocopy of a letter of February 16, 1999 sent from Phoebe to Rob Gibson and Stanley Crouch at Jazz at Lincoln Center, which she forwarded to Jack, pitching ideas for an Armstrong centennial celebration; Fax sent from Phoebe and Phil Leshin to Rob Gibson, David Gold, and Stanley Crouch at Jazz at Lincoln Center detailing ideas for an Armstrong centennial celebration, forwarded to Jack. Fax dated August 24, 1998 from Phil Leshin of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation to Jeff Nissim of the Musical Heritage Society congratulating him for making arrangements to release the Louis Armstrong Fleischmann's's Yeast broadcast, forwarded to Jack via Phoebe. |
