Scope: Louis talking with Duke [Ellington?], and playing church hymns. Original tape is still in tape box. Photo of George Gershwin on back of box is no longer affixed. Contents (as on compact disc reference copy): Track 1: Live recording of "When the Saints Go Marching In" (live with a big band, poor recording); Track 2: Louis with friend "Duke" backstage; talk about "Glory Alley"; Louis being tired while filming it; Duke talks with someone else (mostly unintelligible); Louis mentions getting something with the names of all the German fans; mentions a mouthpiece he got in Frankfurt, Germany ("that's the mouthpiece you hear all those big, broad notes coming out"); Louis says something in German (he translates it as "you black son-of-a-bitch" to much laughter); conversation becomes difficult to hear; Duke asks about Louis's book; Louis says he's taking a break; Track 3: [unidentified hymn]; Track 4: "When the Saints Go Marchin' In" (repeated from track 1); Track 5: Louis and Duke (repeated from track 2); Track 6: [unidentified hymn](repeated from track 3); Track 7: "When the Saints Go Marchin' In" (repeated from track 1); Track 8: Louis and Duke (repeated from track 2); Track 9 : [unidentified hymn] (repeated from track 3). |
