12" acetate disc featuring Louis Armstrong. Contains parts five and six of the "Second Esquire All American Jazz Concert" from January 17, 1945 as broadcast from New Orleans on WJZ. Louis, Sidney Bechet, J. C. Higginbotham, Richard Alexis, James P. Johnson and Paul Barbarin perform "Dear Old Southland'" on part five and "Basin Street Blues" (with Bunk Johnson) on part two. Part six also includes a "three-way" jam session on "Things Ain't What They Used to Be" with Louis, Duke Ellington and Benny Goodman performing simultaneously from three different cities. Record marked by Louis as "Recorded." 78 rpm. Audio appears on CD 19, tracks 15-16 and CD 20, tracks 1-2. |
