This folder contains correspondence, fliers, programs, invitations, news clippings and other papers relating to the "Louis Armstrong: A Cultural Legacy" exhibit from 1994-1995. Contents include: Multiple press releases from the exhibit's stay at the Queens Museum of Art; "visitor comments" from the exhibit's stay at the Terra Museum of American Art; list of people attending the VIP Opening Reception in Queens; red folder from Rutgers with an official program, color image reproduction, an Armstrong biography and timeline and more; gray folder from the Terra Museum of Art containing a press release, a teacher packet and more; invitation from the Board of Trustees of the African American Museum to the exhibit on January 27, 1995; more press releases; multiple personal invitations from Phoebe Jacobs to people such as Dr. Billy Taylor, Stephen Curtis and Larry Rosen, inviting them to the exhibit; and more. Added 3/5/2012: Handwritten sheet of paper with the names and in some cases, addresses, of the original Board of Trustees for the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation as they appear in the original articles of incorporation, filed March 30, 1970. |
