87-page "joke book" typed by Louis himself on "Satchmo" stationary, consisting of mostly dirty jokes and poems heard from other musicians while on the road. Includes four-page "Forward," in which Louis addresses his audiences, explaining where the jokes came from and telling stories about musicians such as Earl Hines, Sid Catlett and Zutty Singleton. Sample joke titles include, "Pres. Roosevelt's Expedition," "The Swimmer," "Famous Whisky Brands," "1942 Golf Rules," "Signifying," "Dig This Shit (It'll Kill Ya)" and hundreds more. |
