Box of 82 undersized concert programs for various Louis Armstrong concerts and events related to Louis between 1957 and 2003. Contents include: Programs for Louis's December 7, 1956 and February 24, 1958 performances at Massey Hall in Toronto. Program for Lewison Stadium concert of July 4, 1959 with Wild Bill Davison substituting for Louis in the All Stars as he was recovering from his illness in Spoleto, Italy (though he made a surprise appearance and performed three songs). Program for All Stars performance at San Jose City College (circa 1957-1960, judging by the tunes listed inside). Program for Louis's appearance in Mexico in 1961 (in Spanish). Programs for All Stars shows at Eastern Montana College (October 4, 1962) and Totowa, New Jersey (July 2, 1963). Two programs/menus for Louis's appearance at the New Jersey Advertising Club Christmas Dinner Party in 1963. Two copies. Souvenir menus's for Louis's engagement at Caesar's Monticello January 21-January 30, 1965. Two copies. Program for "Mardi Gras," Louis's musical with Guy Lombardo that took place at Jones Beach from July 8 through September 4, 1966. Three copies. Five copies of the Playbill. Program for the Goteborgs Tradjazz Festival 1992 in Sweden, featuring Joe Muranyi and Doc Cheatham, with a photo of Louis on the cover. Program for a 1994 Duke Ellington tribute in Cape Cod featuring Herb Pomeroy and an exhibit by Jack Bradley. Program for "The Armstrong Continuum," a Jazz at Lincoln Center celebration of Armstrong from December 14-19, 1994. Includes an interview with Wynton Marsalis and essays by Dan Morgenstern and Albert Murray, as well as a compendium of Armstrong quotes. Three copies. Stagebill program for Jazz at Lincoln Center's December 19, 1994 concert, "Louis Armstrong: The Master Interpreter." Includes an essay, "The Shakespeare of Jazz," by Terry Teachout and "Notes on the Program" by Stanley Crouch. Three copies. Program for The Queens Museum of Art's November 13, 1994 presentation, "Remembering Louis: Music & Memories of Louis Armstrong." Program for "Satchmo Lives," a tribute concert by the Dave Whitney Quintet in Cape Cod on March 12, 1994. Program for the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra's March 17, 1995 concert "The Majesty of Louis Armstrong," held at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. Program contains an interview with Wynton Marsalis and essay from Dan Morgenstern, both lifted from Jazz at Lincoln Center's "Armstrong Continuum" program. Seven copies. 2008.3.317 features Jack Bradley's handwritten notes on some of the performances, which featured Jon Faddis on trumpet. Program for "Pops Is Tops" at Louis Armstrong's home in Corona, May 18-20, 1999, featuring Arvell Shaw and the Louis Armstrong Legacy Band. Two copies. Program for "Pops Is Tops" at Louis Armstrong's home in Corona, May 23-25, 2000, featuring Arvell Shaw and the Louis Armstrong Legacy Band. Program for "A Tribute to Louis Armstrong," a September 24, 2000 celebration featuring an exhibit, lecture and film showing by Jack Bradley and a performance by the Lou Colombo Quartet. Five copies. Program for the New England Jazz Hall of Fame Exhibit and Concert Series at the Tremont Theater in Boston, April 1-29, 2002, an event that paid tribute to Bobby Hackett.
