Description |
Chapter presumably written for Louis’s second autobiography, dictated to one of his secretaries (probably Velma Ford) in 1955. This two-page chapter concerns Louis sharing a bill with Guy Lombardo in the 1950s. Louis writes about how his road manager [Pierre “Frenchy” Tallerie] made fun of Louis for liking Lombardo but to Louis, “it wasn’t any joke with me.” Louis relates how the evening went down, naming the tunes they played together, climaxing with a finale on “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In.” Relates how Lombardo insisted they must record together for Decca. |
