Description |
One in a series of folders containing material found inside of music cases of members of Louis Armstrong and His Orchestra circa 1947. This folder contains a letter written to Joe Garland, tenor saxophonist and musical director of the band, on July 25, 1946 from Joe Glaser. Glaser heard about the men in the band complaining about having $10 taken out of their pay for upkeep of uniform and tells Garland that they have no business complaining because "as far as work is concerned they have been working more than any band in the business." Glaser also mentions how rough the band business is and how many bands are disbanding. |
