Scope: Louis, Lucille "Sweets" Preston and friends tell jokes, play sound recordings, and read from James Paul's play, "Stagger Lee." (In Minneapolis, Minn.) 1987_3_0017-1 Lucille "Sweets" Preston reads a letter to Louis; she talks about what a wonderful time she is having and how she went shopping and bought roses for Louis; Preston sings Ruth Brown's "Wild, Wild Young Men". Conversation with Lucille "Sweets" Preston mentions Zutty Singleton sitting in the band at Basin Street in New York, which was sometime during March 13-April 9, 1954. The interview at the end mentions Rancho Don Carlos in Winnipeg, Canada , where Louis performed November 11-18, 1954. On back of tape box, Louis has written "Winnipeg" and "Minneapolis." Louis was in Minneapolois on November 26, 1954. |
