Description |
One in a series of folders containing material found inside of music cases of members of Louis Armstrong and His Orchestra circa 1947. This folder contains four nightclub photographs belonging to Ernest Thompson, baritone saxophonist with the band fro m April 1946 to July 1947. Two photos are housed in sleeves from the Music Hall, "Washington's Most Beautiful Ballroom and Concert Hall." One photo depicts Thompson with an unknown female named "Georgianna," who has written phrases around the photo such as "Remember me" and "Let the good times roll." The second photo is just of "Georgianna" and is dated November 16, 1947. In addition to more phrases such as "Will meet again" and "Having a splendid time," it appears Louis has written "To Each His Own" on the left side. A third photo is from The Aqarium Restaurant and includes Thompson, Arvell Shaw and Velma Middleton. Thompson, Middleton and "Jimmy" have inscribed the inside. A fourth photo is from the Savoy in Boston and features an unknown woman. |
