This folder contains letters and other mail sent to Louis Armstrong from senders ranging from "Decca" through "Devore." Contents include: a notice from Decca records that the album "Satchmo's Golden Favorites" is their third best-selling long-playing album as of November 1, 1961; empty envelope originally containing a Christmas card from "Duke" Delory; typed letter from Donald L. De Lucia of Don-Del Music, interested in a musical act, the Dozier Boys, who recorded a demo of Louis's song "Someday You'll Be Sorry" (indeed, the demo was officially released on the WHAC label in 1964); typed fan letter from Richard Dennis of Shelby, Ohio on November 21, 1956, thanking Louis and the All Stars for the "fine experience" of their show in Sandusky, Ohio on November 20; empty envelop from "Meta" Derkson of Canada, addressed to Louis at The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas; packet from the Ophelia De Vore School of Charm including a letter from De Vore asking to support the United Negro College Fund, an invitation to the Miss American Beauty U. S. A. 1962 pageant and two tickets to that pageant. |
