This folder contains letters and other mail sent to Lucille Armstrong from senders with last names ranging from "Iriberri" to "Lux." Contents include: Letter from Bernardo Iriberri of Buenos Aires, sending along a radio set to Lucille at her hotel so she and Louis can listen to it while they're in the city in 1957; announcements for the International Art of Jazz, Inc.; letter from Tony Vincent Isaacs, including a a record and lyrics of a tribute song to Louis, asking for Lucille's opinion; letter from Alice H. Jackson, asking if Lucille would be a judge for the 1973 "Miss Black Teenage American Beauty Pageant and U. S. Teen Revue" (includes many other papers about Hal Jackson Productions); letter from Jean Jones thanking Lucille for the dinner she made and catching her up about events in her life; 1955 letter from Elsemarie Jacobsen of Denmark, sending along a present; 1974 letter from Slonia and Georg Junito [sic] of Prague, thanking Lucille for her visit; "Welcome Back" card from Lossie Joseph; card from Mrs. Barrett G. Lewis, asking to interview Lucille and perhaps obtain some of Louis's correspondence for a book he is writing on politics and society in Harlem from 1924-1935 [book was eventually published in 1981 as "When Harlem Was In Vogue"]; invitation to a party by Beverly Lloyd; letter from Florence Armstrong Lux, sending condolences about Louis's death and asking for one of his handkerchiefs. |
