This box contains 67 prints of Louis Armstrong in Africa taken between 1956 and 1961. Images include: Multiple images of Joseph Kabasele and his band; photos of Lucille delivering a copy of "Satchmo the Great" to Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah in 1957 (James Moxon also picture); Louis wearing African garb with the All Stars in 1960 (Trummy Young, Danny Barcelona, Barney Bigard and Mort Herbert are pictured); Louis's arrival; local dignitaries including Kwame Nkrumah; musicians; Louis eating in Accra, Ghana with Lucille, Nkrumah, Moxon and others; Nkrumah and Lucille play miniature hockey game while Louis watches; Lucille playing Mort Herbert's bass; Louis listening to musicians in Nigeria in 1957; Louis playing trumpet to a wooden figurine; Louis, Trummy Young, Jack Lesberg and Edmond Hall playing outdoors for dancers in Ghana in 1956; Louis meets Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardauna of Sokoto and Premier of the Northern Nigerian Region, Kaduna, Nigeria, 1960; Louis meeting with dignitaries in Ghana in 1960; Louis holding Pepsi bottle (Pepsi sponsored tour); Louis with African drums; Louis and Lucille in Khartoum, "The Honeymooners," circa 1960-61.
